Playhouse 2008 - Wild Wild West
Playhouse 2008 ended with a bang last Saturday evening. It's certainly been one hell of a roller coaster ride over the past 3 weeks..
No surprises - I found myself mired in Props again this year, and work started officially 3 weeks ago during the 1st week of the 2 weeks break. Well, the ante was upped, and so we got moving. The past week has certainly been crazy. 3 late nights in a row in a clinical week certainly depleted me to a point where I was just simply grateful to God for bringing me to AH safely every morning when I drive.
But somehow, we did it! We won Best Props & Costumes, Best Actress, and the overall Best Play award! =)
Many thanks are certainly called for here.. =)
Janice - my partner in crime, for being the creative mind and main liaison person. It almost got down to a point where she was designing and I was building.. Haha.. Here's to all those late and crazy nights and weekends and Deepavali burnt away..
Susan & Fuqiang - for being such loyal friends and coming down to help every session when possible. For being super duper reliable and staying with us through all those late nights and early mornings..
Wenyang - for being the ever brilliant artist. He literally painted alive all our props from their plain static selves, he simply infused life into the props - the towers, the rocks, the bartop, stables, greek columns - with a dash of his paintbrush..
Joanna - for her brilliant script, and taking time to come help in props and costumes despite being busy with her own hall play!
Randal - for being ever reliable and willing to help at a single phone call, especially when i needed help moving a certain organ from my house to my car to the play.. eeks that was heavy. -_-"
My trusty backstage crew - Shaohui, Stanley, Kaihong, Victor Chong, Jiahui, Qiumei, FQ, Randal - for responding to my last minute calls for help. For ever so kindly agreeing to spend the final Playhouse watching (again) from the sides instead of the audience..
A special mention to the cacti, cowboys and cowgals, the Daniel Quek, Larry, and Jai, for being so helpful in props movements on stage when called on for help.. =)
The rest of the cast - without whom the play would not materialise - the directors, lights and sounds, makeup crew.. and all the peoples who appeared /dropped in at the Playhouse worksite over the past 3 weeks to either lend a hand / ask how was progress - thank you! The list is simply too long and numerous.. But I thank you all the same!
This year's Playhouse was a lot different for me. Not just because its a year 5 play, but because the participation and support this year was simply overwhelming compared to previous years..
To see so many different peoples - some of which you would never have thought would appear - actually turn up and lend a helping hand, simply puts the whole experience in a whole new perspective.
This is what Playhouse is meant to be. And I thank each and everyone of you for making this, simply the most memorable Playhouse, ever. =)
*Select photos will follow shortly after I take them off Facebook.. =P
